1. The Secretariat of 2011 Election of Christian Electors to the Election Committee has not received any withdrawal notice from any candidates of the election. (Remark)
2. As the election is coming and all our election arrangements are ready, the Working Group will not accept any withdrawal of candidature. Eligible Christian voters should cast their vote according to their own judgment and criteria.
Remark: The Working Group received an e-mail statement under the name of Back to Christ Alliance, including wordings such as “…announce the withdrawal today to express the discontent…” Nevertheless, the email has not stated clearly which nomination party and name of candidate(s). Among the 42 verified eligible candidates, none of them was nominated by the Back to Christ Alliance.

2011 Election of Christian Electors to the Election Committee – Candidates Update (1)
As of 5 p.m. on 7 October 2011, the Secretariat of “2011 Election of Christian Electors to the Election Committee” has received a total of 42 nominations. Among them, two of the candidates who are group nominations were unable to submit the application in person. As both were not in Hong Kong, their representatives handed in the application forms and letter on the candidates’ behalf. After discussion of the Working Group, both applications have been accepted, but both candidates must personally reconfirm the application when they return to Hong Kong, or the application would be cancelled. As both candidates have already reconfirmed their applications in person, the total number of candidates for the 2011 Election of Christian Electors to the Election Committee will remain 42.
“One Christian, One Vote” - 2011 Election of Christian Electors to the Election Committee
Pursuant to the "Chief Executive Election Ordinance" and the "2011 Chief Executive Election (Amendment) Ordinance” issued in May 2011, 1200 Election Committee Members will be charged with the responsibility to vote for the 2012 Chief Executive. 60 Electors of the Election Committee of HKSAR are from Religious Sector, among them, 10 Electors are nominated by the Hong Kong Christian Council (“HKCC”) which is enlisted as the designated body, for Christian (Protestant) Sub-sector.
HKCC supports the democratization of the political system, and desires universal suffrage as soon as possible for electing the Chief Executive and all the Legislators. Therefore the HKCC decided to adopt the “one Christian, one vote” method to maximize the participation of Christians and to promote democracy among Christians.
There are indeed more than 400,000 Christians in Hong Kong. Through this campaign, we believe that civic awareness and responsibility of our Christian members could be further enhanced.
